Using ことができる to say you can do something

Use this when you want to say someone is able to do something or something is possible.

  1. にほんご で かんたん な かいわ を する こと が できます。I can have a simple conversation in Japanese.
  2. わたし は 一人 で スピーチ を する こと が できます。I can give a speech by myself.

Rebuild the pattern

  1. Dictionary formStart with the plain dictionary verb.
  2. ことTurn the action into an idea.
  3. が できるAdd the ability meaning.
