Using 〜てもらいます and 〜てくれます to receive an action
Use もらいます when you receive a favour (focus on you), and くれます when someone does something kind for you (focus on them).

Warm-up
Read and notice
- せんせい に せつめい して もらいました。I had the teacher explain it to me.
- ともだち が てつだって くれました。My friend helped me (for my benefit).
Structure drill
Rebuild the pattern
- て-formChange the verb to its て-form.
- もらいます or くれますUse もらいます when you receive; くれます when they give.
- Subject markerWith くれます use が for the giver; with もらいます use に for the giver.
