Using 〜つもりです to state plans or intentions

Use this when you have a definite plan or intention to do something — stronger than たいです.

Read and notice

  1. らいねん、にほん へ いく つもり です。I intend to go to Japan next year.
  2. あした は がっこう を やすむ つもり は ありません。I do not intend to miss school tomorrow.

Rebuild the pattern

  1. Dictionary formUse the plain dictionary form of the verb.
  2. つもりですAdd つもりです to state your intention.
  3. Time wordAdding らいねん or いつか makes the plan clearer.
